CIVENCO were contracted by Harrisons Engineering to design and build suitable foundations to accommodate new machinery capable of taking point loads in excess of 20 tonnes. Harrisons undertook the design and manufacture of the support framework but required a solution to incorporate it into the work place.
CIVENCO undertook a site survey and working alongside our chosen structural engineering provider we designed a foundation scheme to support the new machine in a short time frame that was suitable for the client.
Our solution was to excavate individual strip foundations to accommodate 16m long hollow section rails which were the main support rails. These were bolted and grouted to the new concrete strip foundations and tied into the existing slab using resin anchors. In order to run the machine safely we also incorporated a 2.5m deep pit to accommodate a hydraulic ram as a well as 6m long x 3m wide scissor lift pit.
All our works were undertaken in a working environment working with the warehouse staff to ensure smooth operation of the distribution was maintained.
